Understanding Your Aged Care Funding Options

Navigating the aged care system can feel complex, but we're here to help you understand your options and access the support you're entitled to.

🏠 Home Care Package (HCP)

Government-subsidised funding at four levels (Level 1–4) based on assessed care needs. Aevitas Care supports all HCP levels. Apply through My Aged Care (myagedcare.gov.au).

🌿 Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

Entry-level support for older people who need some assistance. Provides subsidised basic services like domestic help and personal care.

🎖️ Veterans' Affairs (DVA)

Eligible veterans and war widows/widowers may access care through the Department of Veterans' Affairs. We can help you navigate this pathway.

Common Questions

Aged Care FAQs

How do I qualify for a Home Care Package?

+

You need to be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au to register and request an assessment. Once assessed, you'll be assigned a package level and can choose Aevitas Care as your provider.

Can I choose my own support workers?

+

Absolutely. We work hard to match you with support workers who suit your personality, preferences, and cultural background. Consistency matters to us — you'll generally see the same familiar faces each visit, which builds trust and comfort.

What if my needs change over time?

+

We review care plans regularly and can adjust services as your needs change — whether that means increasing hours, adding new services, or helping you transition to a higher package level. We're with you for the long term.

Are your workers trained in dementia care?

+

Yes. All our support workers complete dementia awareness training, and workers assigned to clients with dementia receive additional specialised training. We use person-centred care approaches and ensure consistent carers to maintain familiarity and reduce anxiety.

Do you provide services on weekends and public holidays?

+

Yes. We provide flexible scheduling including weekends and public holidays. We understand that care needs don't follow a Monday-to-Friday calendar, and we work with you to create a schedule that fits your life.
